A huge population of the Red-Crowned Parrot resides here in Southern California.  Getting a fair warning that they are around is easy enough.  They wake me up in the early hours.  Their screeching can be so loud it is hard to speak and be heard.

These Parrots are listed as “endangered” and it is illegal to catch or shoot them.  In the meantime, these little fellows are pretty to look at and quite frankly they stay for maybe 15 minutes or so, so their screeching is only heard for a minimal time. Mother Nature at her finest in all categories is always breathtaking.
