~Spring~

This will be a double whammy for the Nature Photo Challenge No. 5 and Lens-Artists #241. The Topics are Signs of Spring & Spring. So instead of posting two posts, we have one springing into two challenges.

A pretty spring bulb has come up in the shade garden and it is a sure sign of more to come.
The Plum Tree

The plum tree is blooming and looks beautiful right now. Each day the flowers get larger and healthier. The rain has had a wonderful effect on the vegetation’s earth around here which is normally very dry. I think I will be canning this year and having a lot of toast and jam.

The bulbs are popping up and some with flowers already.

Yesterday it rained and today was a great day to take photos and enjoy the warmth of the sun just as this Gladiola is. It is trying to pop up through the shade.

One of the arches is already starting is growth of yellow Jasimine. Normally this is slow because of the heat. I am happy to see it’s colors right now as a gateway into the Plum tree.

A Jasmine Welcome

Some of the Vinca has started to spread a bit more into the hills. This has been a great plant for the stability of the ground.

Purple Vinca

Then of course, it would not be Spring without the weeds. Yes, those tiring backbreaking weeds. As pretty as they are they get pulled. This one got its portrait taken before the big pluck.

So, there you have it. Two in one springing into Spring challenges.

Til next time.

  1. that jasmine arch is beautiful, I would also like to create a similar application (albeit on a much smaller scale for now).
one of my neighbors in Miami used to grow white jasmine and whenever I would come home late at night, the fragrance of the flowers were wonderfully overwhelming. so much so that it is the smell I always associate with late night parties hehe
thanks for the beautiful photos and arch inspiration!

  2. Beautiful flowers and blossom and I love your jasmine arch – so sunny and cheerful! Our vincas have amazingly stayed in flower all winter despite it being cold enough to have completely killed some other less hardy plants!

    1. Thank you so much. Yes, some Vincas did still bloom but not many here. You are lucky because they do give some color to the Winterscapes. 🙂

  3. Lovely walk with you and your spring color. The jasmine arch is going to get more beautiful everyday from here on. As for dandelions. They deserve attention too, just until the hand yank arrives. Happy spring.
