While walking with the 24m I came upon this guy on the ground. I don’t know if he was on his last wings but, I had him for a little bit. These were shot on the 24mm, and the third photo below is up close and a little cropped for a sideways look at him.
I am posting this for a Macro Monday which I haven’t done in a while. I guess I should get out the 100mm but the lightness of this little 24mm is spoiling me…
Til next time.

Lovely butterfly captures, especially the closeup. 😊
Thank you Pepper. Working in macro always is an amazing surprise when I get the film on screen. Nature gives me a good hand too 😉
Except for the loss of its tail appendages, looks newly hatched. Loved the closeup of its scales and hairs. What a beauty!
I was wondering if it was older and now younger makes sense. It was big. Next time I should put an object there for size. It didn’t want to fly away.
The scales flake off as it ages, so it gets paler. This one looks quite new.
Thank you! I may become a butterfly sleuth and explore more with them. That info helps a lot with knowing why it was on the ground. 😊
An excellent macro, Kathleen Jennette! It does resemble a carpet. I have a 28-60mm lens that I really like, it’s small and fits in my suitcase for travel.
Yes, I am liking the small lenses these days. I have a lot of prime lenses that envelope just about every mm but I like the fixed focal because they push me into being more conscience of the photo. This lens is super easy to travel with.
I understand what you mean, Kathleen Jennette. ❤️
amazing captures Kathleen, and yes especially the up close one of the wing. we’re really spoiled to see nature all around us and yet there’s more when we look closer. also, while I’m at it, i loved the monochrome orchid shots!
hope the week has started off well for your and your husband!

Yes, those wings are amazing and the little furry flutter down the center is so remarkable to see. I never knew that was there until taking photos.
Incredible richness of color in the butterfly wings! You captured it!
Thank you, Robert, I am lucky to have had a great colorful subject 🙂
