~A Train~

~A Train~

Trains. Something about a train makes me want to open the door and fly out to take a shot. However, I am driving and can’t do that so through the window it is with a quick snap for my pic for Monochrome Monday.

You may also notice a new featured image. These are of my ancestors from the early 1900s. Having received the negatives I have now started to restore many of them. Somehow I love the old look so I am using a couple for certain challenges on the blog. I hope you like them.

Til next time…

Thank you, its my Grandmother. I’m using it for the Monochrome Monday header from now on. They give me inspiration:)

Great pics, Kathleen Janette. Your ancestors appear to be racing in the cumbersome apparel of the day. Their shoes would not have been sneakers either! Your train image made me recall, as a young driver, staring at the endless line of freight cars clickety clacking along the rail as I waited for it to clear the roadway. 🙂

That is my Grandmother and her helper for the kids. They had button up boots on. Doing a relay race. The photos are so much fun!

I love the old photo, Kathleen, the woman with the smile makes the photo! I wonder if they were having a race? The train is called an Intermodal. Very long and stacked high, they are common back in Michigan too. Have a great week!

Hi John, yes, they were having a race in Golden Gate Park. That is my Grandmother with her friend. My grandmother is the one on the right.

I love your header! Great to see women running so joyfully despite being hampered by their ridiculous clothes.

Yes, they did find ways of having fun. What gets me more is the look on the mens faces. I am surprised my grandmother ran like that since the times really frowned upon it.

I hadn’t really looked at the men, but you are right!
