Road Trip. There are many farms on the I-5 California freeway. More development also. I remember this particular highway as a child and absolutely nothing was on it but a gas station or two. We ate sandwiches wrapped in wax paper my mom made to eat for lunch and drank hot Cokes. Our car was a station wagon back then and had a burlap bag tied on the front of it in case we needed water for the radiator going over the old Grapevine. Things have changed since then now with restaurants, a few Starbucks, burger drive-thrus and shopping centers at the bottom on both sides.
Below are some snaps of a recent road trip to the north. The windows give out their own sort of movement. Some of the lines you see are bugs on the window. The movement of the car and stillness of the camera tend to give texture and streaks to the image, something I like. It shows motion and a certain obscurity which makes one wonder…

There are so many changes since the last I was on this road and, changes I fear coming – and too much of that is the development of lands. We have a great agricultural community here in California and when we stop for rest and food, I always seem to start up a conversation with locals working. Thriving communities of generations with the love of what they are doing and have been doing. I hope it doesn’t change. Because the people I spoke to, are happy to serve those along the roads and across the world with their goods and skills. I thank them for a wonderful wander down photographic I-5.
Til next time…

What a wonderful trip that must have been! The photos are beautiful, Kathleen.
Thank you Egidio, it is hard to stop and shoot photos sometimes, so through the window it is fun. 🙂
Your photos are very beautiful, Kathleen! I too don’t want to see farm land swallowed up by these darn developers.
Unfortunately, our lands everywhere including the desert will suffer if the incoming has its way. It’s all so disgusting.
Agreed! 😡😡😡
Your photographs seem to emanate a tranquil sensation. Thanks for sharing, Kathleen Jennette, 🙂
Thank you Nancy 😊
The central valley is so important to this country’s food supply. We’d starve without all those farmers!
So true. They are actually heros because there is no one I know that will do what they do in 120 plus degrees.
