So here we are on Denzil’s Nature Photo Challenge #24. I skipped a couple Nature Challenges because I just didn’t have the goods for the challenges. But… Edibles are still growing here in Sheckyville so I thought I could get some photos for this one and shoot a bit with a lens that I haven’t used in some time. The Canon EFS 24mm. It is not a prime lens, but it is a very good one indeed and I loved using it. You can read more about it below, but first, the edibles for the challenge.

Squash:

This was seeded and the outcome of the squash is only about 5 inches or so. Blossoms are edible and I have eaten the squash. However, the squash was flat tasting so I think I will pluck it and cook up the flowers and the squash for a little luncheon.

Tomatoes:

These turned out really sweet and so tasty. We have been eating them almost daily. They aren’t huge like I thought they would be however the taste is wonderful. The last photo is a sweet grape tomatoes vine. The tomatoes are very small but perfect for a salad and a one-person pizza or just a snack. *of course… I love me a pizza*.

Plums:

Since we bought this property, this tree, on its own, has given me so many pints of jelly and jam. After a couple of weeks of giving, I think it is telling me it is done producing and pick now.

Grapes To Be:

Potatoes:

This little guy unrooted itself somehow and I think it is time to dig out the potato bin. I put 2 plants into a giant trough, and it has given us a couple of batches. Now it is just time to dig up and enjoy the rest on the griddle. *crispy*

Luvly Lemons:

Now the lens.
Canon EFS 24mm:

I like this light-weighted little lens. It is very compact, and I can do a lot of closeups and landscape shots with it. I think it is very versatile for what it is. Now, it is not a prime lens by any means. It has a motor sound both when using AF and when using M focus. So, I would not recommend using it for video unless you are going to over-dub the sound. Also, if you don’t like the motor sounds, this one is a lighter sound and not to boisterous to the ear so it didn’t bug me like others can. Fast? Not really, but for what I was using it for it was just fine. I kind of concentrate and take my time when I am out and about so I don’t have to do too much editing. I did however have to use an “adapter” for this lens to fit on my R6. The adapter is tight which is good, and it can be used with all my lenses previously invested in for my Mark III and 7D. So, that little adapter is very handy for the pocketbook on my CanonR6. All photos turned out just fine in my opinion for this scenario and I plan to use it much more in everyday lifestyle photos because of its weight. BTW, these are all unedited except for cropping and watermarks so as to post photographs from in-camera just in case you are thinking of the lens. This is not a bad lens and if you cannot afford the Canon Prime series, this does a nice job without the price.

Thanks for stopping in for Denzil’s Nature Photo Challenge #24.

Til next time…

i swear flowers, trees and vegetables love being photographed. they look so much more radiant once you start editing them on the computer. then again, it also takes a skilled photographer to get their best sides 😉👍💯

enjoy the rest of the weekend Kathleen!
