Hello, and welcome to June’s ICMPC. A photo challenge that encompasses in-camera movement for a creative look at photography. Rules are above under the ICM tab, and anyone is welcome to join in just don’t forget to do a ping back.

After coming back from the UK where everyone walks and walks, I have been doing the same here and the trees always have the eye of the lens.

Trying harder to make this look like an early California painting took quite a few shots. Most were tossed. Here are my bests for that thought.

The time of day was early afternoon, not good for the normal photo take but these seemed to work out fine with the lighting for what I was trying to achieve.

I did like the colors on the above photo the best. You can see movement in the background with the trees being duplicated as I moved to the side. It gave out an oak forest-like look, and the sky’s colors seemed to come through the dark foreground on this one in the same tone.

The Arch. This was the subtleness I like and will try to duplicate the movement more in the future for the painterly look here. I like that I can still the clouds outlined.

I am looking forward to seeing your ICM photos again this month. I really didn’t think the challenge was going to be this interesting, but for the few that have joined in, the creativeness has been so varied and inspiring to see!

Til next time…

This shaking or movement conveys an impressionist painterly feel without looking manipulated. It is brilliant and beautiful. It blurs edges and softens light like an old time wooden cameras on a tripod, shot for four seconds using a rubber bulb. The muted blended browns and greens, set off by a wedge of brilliant blue sky is striking. Contrast changes add depth. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. Especially done digitally.

Kathleen, these are fun experiments. You achieved excellent results. I liked the painterly look in the photos, especially in the next-to-last image. That had a very impressionist feel to it.

This morning I went into our garden to create my ICM for the month. Here it is:

Thank you, your take on the flower in the vortex is great! I think of space and time of nature as I look at it. I’m so glad you are taking part in this challenge, your photos are an inspiration!
